Hey guys I am looking to buy a 2000 Sunfire... it has 102k on it is there anything in particular I should be looking for? Like belts, water pump, anything like that that will have to or should have already been done? Thanks I appreciate it!

102K? LOOK FOR EVERYTHING!!!!

Cavs and Sunfires from that year, specially with the Quad4 engines, are pretty good cards and they should last well over 100K but the point is that you were not there to testify for the treatment/maintenance the car got (or did not get). Get a certified mechanic to check it over to include oil analysis, compression check, etc. Needless to say, it is a used car. Do not expect perfection (although close to it will be cool). Things are going to break eventually. Just make sure that you get a good car for the millage and know as much about the car before you buy.

good luck,

Things to look for are noise in the engine does it knock or make any other noises that seem out of the ordinary.Check the cv boots to see if they are torn make sharp turns and listen for and noise from the cv joints. check if the tranny shifts right and does not leak fluid. also ask for a maintenance record i never buy a car with out one . Hope this helps.

Heya Chris, How much are you getting this sunfire for?. Also what size of motor & auto or Manual transmission?.I would recommend taking it to a mechanic to get it checked out, Also you got to expect to do some preventive maintance, Like oil change, Tune up plugs/ wires / fuel filter / Air filter / If auto filter / fluid change. I bought an 01 cavalier 2 years ago with 113,000k , Never had a problem with it, All oil changes and preventive maintance, Also had to change the front brake pads, Pretty well the car has been really good.

Keep us updated

Good luck with youre purchase.
