Smells like burning coolant.

Here's the deal. When I start the car, it smells like burning coolant. If i open the hood and start it, the exhaust steams for a second or two, and smells like burning coolant. this is only on cold startup, after sittiing for a while. When its warm, the temp is perfect, and i can't find any leaks. I've even had it pressure tested, Nothing leaks, holds pressure

I'm trying to sell the car, and its hard to sell a car that smells like coolant. It has a new Cylinder head, and gasket. New water pump. fresh coolant. For the first week, i figured it was coolant burning off the exhaust and such from when i spilled it during the repair process. but this is now more than a month. its pissing me off, any hints?

BTW, i'm not yet certified, but fairly competent in automotive repairs..oh, its a 2.2 OHV. on a 96 w/ the 3spd.

Mine smells like coolant when the HVAC is running. Same deal with the leak check. It's annoying more than anything else. Having dealt with many old school GM cars, a coolant smell inside the car was part of the package.

Is your car the old Quad OHC motor that Olds had in it's cars? They leaked on the exhaust manifold side of the engine, near the fire wall. To find it take off the coil pack cover and look at the head and block in that area. If you see white trails anywhere in that area there's your leak. Same problem with a friends car in the mid 90's. Same test with same results.
