I was wondering if anyone has any input on this it will be greatly appreciated. I have a 97 cavalier everytime it rains or its a little bit wet out, when I accelerate or brake a loud pop comes from the passenger side. The cv joints were replaced last year and I just replaced the strut mounts not to long ago.
I had the problem like that months ago, I had a bad upper motor mount.
I have a 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier Z22 (They do exist) Ok unofficial Z22
I had the same deal goin' on. It turned out to be a bad upper dog bone mount. The factory bolts work themselves loose after the mount replacement. Look at the upper dog bone mount. Is it barely hanging on by one bolt and the other sheered off? Does your motor have a bad lean to it? Is your drive accessory belt less than a centimeter away from the housing for your coolant line? Yup, you got a bad dog bone mount.
The factory bolts for the 2.2 are M10.9 (150 000 psi)
I replaced mine with bolts with a higher tensile strength and torqued them to 60 pounds. Try that and see what happens.
*Don't come on to her you'll snap the other bolt like a twig. Be carefull. Take a look at that upper dog bone mount and replace the bolts.
