On my sisters 2002 cav her battery just went dead we just found out the heater is staying on and blowing air out when the car is shut off.
Why is this happening what needs to be replaced? Anyone else have this problem before?
Thanx
Jon
Where or how does someone go about changing that?
Kevin, if all you can do is offer a guess, don't pass it off like you know what you're talking about. This is the reason there's so much bullsh!t on the org.
The blower resistor sits between the - terminal of the blower and ground. If it fails open, the blower won't run, it if fails shorted, you'll get full blast, but the + side of the blower is controlled by the blower relay which is triggered by the brown wire that comes off the mode switch on the HVAC panel. This is the one that goes off, recirculate, vent, mix, floor, defrost. If the blower is the only thing that stays on after you remove the key, odds are good that your blower relay is stuck closed and needs to be replaced.
If you replace the relay and it still runs constantly, make sure the brown wire on the mode switch is dead when you pull the key.
