Binding/Vibration while turning left
Tuesday, February 20, 2007 1:38 PM
I have a 2004 cavalier ecotec with an auto trans (i'm sure that doesn't matter, just giving everyone a mental picture) and i hear a binding noise, and a vibration in the steering wheel while I am turning left and braking, or under no power. If I am just coasting through a slight corner or on the gas through a corner, I do not hear or feel anything, only when im on the brakes while turning, or making a sharp u-turn. Only when I turn left with no gas or with brakes do I feel like a binding/vibration in the steering wheel and hear a noise associated with those feelings, if you know what i mean. I talked to a neighbor and he suggested a problem with the abs hub bearing, any help would be greatly appreciated as it is my only vehicle. by the way just had all four brakes (discs and drums) all replaced less than 4 months ago. Thank you in advance for any help.

my guess without feeling it would be a hub bearing. u should feel that by just swerving left to right. it'll feel like a whirring or growling. if you feel it when u swerve left then it's your right hub bearing. the only other thing would be a cv joint. you'll feel that at lower speeds and tighter corners. it'll be more of a chunking popping type of sound. if it only happens while you're on the brakes i'd guess rotors but that's not likely at 4 months old.

*stop drop and roll won't work in hell.*
