Testing the AC relay

Is there a way to test the AC relay outside of its socket? i.e. what connectors switch on the relay and which one are activated once the relay is switched on.

[and which one are activated once the relay is switched on.]---Usually from 30 to 87 ON/energised, 87a OFF/de-energised.

FYI on our 99 cavalier the AC and fuel pump relays seem to be the same so I just switched them to test it.
