I am wondering what some of the common oil leak area's are on the 2200 engine. I know 1 is the valve cover gasket I didnt know if there are any other ones as well?

Valve cover gasket / oil filler tube rubber seal. Oil sending unit / Oil pan gasket / Oil drain plug.

not to bad then. I just am trying to pinpoint this oil leak that my cavalier has right now. it looks like it's running down the back side of the motor right by the rear area of the crank.

To add to oil leak spots: rear main bearing seal

I didnt want to hear a rear man seal. my car has 82,000 on it. I am not pulling the motor or trans out to replace it.

I found it. it's the valve cover gasket. it's running down the back of the head and down the block.

My 2.2 is leaking from the rear main seal and was leaking from the oil pan gasket (fixed the pan gasket, but like you don't want to tear down the engine to replace the rear main).

Looking like I have a leaking rear main seal as well with a little engine oil at the bellhousing access hole. Unless there's something I'm not realizing I think the transmission and flywheel can be dropped and the rear main seal changed with the engine in the car. When it warms up a little I plan on changing the clutch and will find out then.
