Can the cold weather affect the car in the way of makin the engine run louder? I just started gettin really cold here, around 20 or below everyday, and on start up and driving the engine runs louder and has a serton sound to it, its not like a grindin but it sounds like one of the pulleys might be goin bad or something.
Actually, it makes the engine more powerful
If it sounds like something other than increased flow, I would say check your accessory belt (alternator), make sure it's tight.
Yes, Youre engine will run louder or ever stiff, Its cause in the winter mechanical parts are alot harder to get to normal warm temp, In which when the cold weather hits, metal it cause the metal particials to shrink, Like for example in the summer, The car doesnt no time all to warm up, Its cause the metal is warm, So its partly expaned from warmer temps out side.
alright, Also during the summer it started to have a loud grindin noise from the pulleys never figured out what it was but the it stoped when winter hit and the temps droped. Same problem do you think?
Now this loud grindin noise is it noticeable at idle as well with driving?. How old is the water pump?. Have you checked the tighteness of the pulley bolts, Could have one loose.
well it happen right after i changed the water pump i think, not sure now. Its only noticeable when at idle. I was thinkin idle pulley or whatever that thing is
ok so its more of a whinin noise then anything, kinda like an electric motor noise

nothing wrong with it, steers fine and trouble free.
im in the same weather you are,yes they sound louder.and also the oil on my dip stick wont read full if i dont let it sit for about 20 mins, but in the summer it reads full. i dont no why it dose that
grinding noise is probably an attribute that you have a bearing going bad in one of your accesories, ac compressor clutch can make a grinding noise too if its going bad, and it don't matter if your using it or not. my monte did that all summer now that its cold it don't make any noise
