Hey guys,
Anybody have any ideas, thoughts, helps, experience?
I have the 2.2L with the GMPP Supercharger kit installed by dealer.
When it is below freezing outside my car overheats and all I get out of the vents are freezing cold air.
The fan is running and yet it still overheats. If I turn off my car it only takes about 5 minutes to get from 250 down to 200 and then I drive again and I can go about 5 miles before the car is back up to 250 again.
I find that at 65 mph it will sustain a temp of 210. But ovbiously with traffic in the morning I can't really hold that speed for long.
Anything please. I'm bringing it back to the dealer but I want ideas of what I should tell them to look at. This is the second time it is going back for the exact same reason. I guess one more time that is a lemon law right?
sounds like a thermostat stuck closed on it actually.

2009 Ford Mustang V6
just a wild guess but maybe a blocked/leaking heater core?
It ended up being the radiator.
Last time they said it was a fan relay and that the fan was not turning on.
How is your coolant level? It should always be the first thing you check when your engine is overheating. Also, ONLY use dexcool, unless you would like to pay for a coolant flush. Let us know what the problem is. Ohh, and make sure you open your coolant cap when the engine is COLD! I will be lilable for any damages when you open it when its hot.

Coolant level was normal. Actually the sctrange thing was as the ambient temperatures went above 20F the car would drive fine and the coolant temps would sit around 185 - 190. But once it dropped below 20F the car would over heat. isn't that the strangest thing you ever heard?
I dont know much about thermostats, but maybe its getting frozen shut when its under 20F. Also, how is your coolant sensor and how is your raidator? If there is a hole in your radiator, I heard something about using an egg to fill that hole just a temporary fix though.

This is exactly why I like having a warranty. They replaced everything no cost to me. The heat exchanger had some blockage in it and created a restricted flow. Apparently below 20F what ever was in there would not just restrict flow but would freeze over and prevent any fluid from flowing. I now have a brand new heat exhanger, fluid, hoses and fan. I even popped my hood and noticed that it really was all new. I really hope I don't have any more issues, I have already replaced the transmission under warranty also.
What was the total with parts included to have the dealership install the s/c? Have you had it dynoed yet to see the increase?

i have the same problem but mines a 2.4 . and i have heat for alittle bit then it blows out cold air and the car starts to over heat. ive changed the thermostat and burped the @!#$ out of the car so im leaning towards the radiator or water pump. which do u think
Well I'm not sure if it is exactly what I had but it ended up being a partically blocked radiator that they replaced and now the car runs better than it did before. Not faster just temperature sits more stable. Not that it is a cheap solution but that seamed to be the problem with me.
Our '03 Cobra had a problem similar...it was a stuck thermostat both times lol.
