well, im just about to leave for arizona on friday, also get my liscense back, (using limited work liscence now) and i am headed to the bank. I forgot my 10 bucks at home so i quickly pull in neighbors driveway, COMPLETELY STOP, and put in reverse, gave it time to put in gear( shifter stiff as hell cause it was 3-7 degrees out lol) and then pressed the gas and GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. WOW WAS IT EVER LOUD.
get home and go for interview with a friend cars (they drove), got back home and finaly got to look at what happened.
MY EXHAUST DOWNPIPE JUST FELL OFF MANIFOLD. lol o well. i guess the torque in the morning just ripped it out. i didnt see any damage.
first question is, should i take to garage and let them work on it (i is a high of 10-15 degrees with wind chill of -10) or is it possible for easy fix.
i beg you please help me. i get liscence back on friday and wanna drive it before i leave for AZ.

only problem is the noise and the pipe is off with no visible broken pieces. any help woudl be.... well, helpful

and cannot wait for the weather to warm up, consider calling a wrecker
service and get your car to a repair shop...
In the Fort Worth-Dallas area, wrecker truck service is a minimum of
$85 - $90 for a short haul...but, sometimes you have to have it...
well, its not really about the cold anymore. my father called midas mufflers and they are thinking its the flex piece from the exhaust manifold to the pipe. they watn 500 DOLLARS. i have very little money as im changing jobs. I had my last cavy taken to a exhaust shop and got FLEX PIECE, 2 1/4 INCH PIPE, HIGH FLOW CAT, AND GREDY MUFFLER FOR 300! . so can anyone get me a diagram of the back of engine there? i can do it all i just need info. i googled it all night last night just to find the empty void of info.
please help. i dont care about the cold, i just need my car fixed.
yeah i had that happen almost. it's kinda pain in the arse especially when it's cold. i replaced mine down pipe from the mani, but w/out the catalytic. cost about 70$ i think. i know lots of places though don't sell'em separate. but if yer looking for a high flow cat just piece it all together with a decent exhaust, howver it might get costly again. well good luck
Yup... flex pipe. The 2.4L's like to blow 'em out...
cut a hole in the hood, and weld a boom tube to a *modified* downpipe, that should fix the problem.
watch out for cops, and truckers..
