Everytime I try to turn my brights on it switches over to the DRL's.
What could cause this?
My lights never seemed very bright period even when the brights were on so I need them pretty bad.
Thanks fellas.
might be the switch. I had a similar problem a couple months ago. I would just to go advanced auto and get a whole new switch. Mine was about 60 bucks.
That might not be it, but its an idea
Yep, switch goin' south not all that uncommon, 'Specially as it gets on in years/use.
You're sure they're not just both burnt out right?
They're pretty new. And the normal lights work, just not the brights.
I am having the same problem on my sunfire. I replaced the switch but that didn't work. I checked the bulbs and they are fine. Does anyone have any other ideas?
Also, if I pull back the switch almost all the way and hold it back, my brights light on the dash goes on and the brights work. But when I pull it back totally and it clicks, the green DRL light turns on instead and those turn on.
Get a new headlight dimmer switch! Also a DRL relay to. Relay is cheap, and easily replaced.

new switch...easy as pie to change
yup. Mine is just the opposite. My lows don't work. But what really grinds my gears, is I just replaced the switch a few months ago.
...
I'll definitely go out and pick a new switch up.
What needs to be done to replace it?
Tannerx- got you message. Installation is cake. you just pop off the steering column top, i think the bottom piece there is a screw. After u get that off there is i believe 3 8mm screws that holds the switch on, one is tougher to get to if i recall. just take them off, and put the new one in. I saw somewhere on here that had pics but now i cant find it, its not a bad install though.

actually it's a 7mm bolt, so make sure you have a 7mm wrench before you start on this otherwise you'll end up putting everything back together and driving back to the auto parts store to get one... trust me
i've replaced mine twice and well you guessed it, it's time for a new one again. kinda irks me that i have to keep replacing it, but hey what can ya do right?
good luck, it's easy to do and it is definately your switch
