ive got the aem alternator pulley and the belt with it only i dont have instructions and it seems simple enough but at the same time it looks a little complicated cause there is very little space to work in can someone tell me how to go about puttin this on
First of all youre gonna need a pulley remover tool to take off, The alternator pulley. Any auto zone will have allow you to rent it, Its pretty simple to do the job. Just got to remove the Rubber drive belt,Also undo the nut that holds the pulley. Then just put the pulley remover tool, onto the alternator, Then use a socket and a ratchet its should pop off with no problems. Then tap the new pulley on, put everything on, Then its all set to go.
Good Luck.
much thanks also i did a search on installation which i should have done to begin with oh well my bad . this pully remover tool thats the same thing as "harmonic balancer puller" the guys at the store looked at me funny when i said pulley remover tool ?
You will not need a pulley puller for the alternator pulley. All the ones I have taken off came off easy without a puller.
You use a T-55 star key, and I can not remember the wrench size for the bolt. It is pretty easy.

which way do you loosen the bolt on the alternator
Just place a screw driver into the alt metal blade fin. To brace it while you break the alt nut free. Then install the Alt puller on the pulley then the pulley will pop off, Then get the new installed in the same place youre done.
does the alt bolt go clockwise or counter clockwise wont the the fins break or bend
First thing remove both batt terminals then the belt from the alt pulley. The alt shaft has has an opening to fit a tor55 in it and you hold that T55 with a wrench then just turn the nut counterclockwise I believe. Be easier if you take the alt out of the car (kind of tricky because the small space but with patience I´ve done it) just be careful with the connector and its thin wires don´t turn around too much the alt. with them attached and with the positive wire. Since the AEM pulley is oversize after you´r done check how is the alt charging at idle with all the loads you should have 12.5 or more volts to be on the safe side otherwise you may loose your battery.
thanks for all the help its a pain in the ass to get the alternator out on the 2.4 so ill try the t-55 and a wrench hopefully in the next day or so when i get the time. if the alternator isnt charging enough can you get it rebuilt to put out more or is there a bettter one to put in ?

The AEM pulley is
not under driven it is
OVER driven. It was designed to be used with a under driven crank pulley. You need a longer belt if used with a stock crank.

Or a stock belt if used with the unorthodox crank pulley.

I have the same AEM alt. pulley and a ebay crank pulley,I should be able to use the stock belt correct?Or if I take off the a/c pulley and use the AEM and ebay pulley can i use the 345k5 belt?

hmmm, ive always kind of wondered if the output of a stock alt would increase any if you just installed the aem pulley and didnt do anything with the crank pulley-kept it stock.
all i know is when i put my 2.3 HO crank pulley on my stereo kept cutting out at idle. but this year im putting my aem pulley and an rsm underdrive crank pulley on, as well as having the alternator beefed up to 160 amps, so hopefully my stereo wont cut out anymore.

No a/c and ebay pulley with AEM pulley should be
close to 345K5, but I think 345K5 will be TO big.

yeah you're right,I think that size belt is for stock alt. and crank with no a/c

Above is wrong, YES I'm wrong
AEM is under driven even though it is larger in size.
It was designed to be used with the unorthodox crank pulley though.

Ive seen this in another post before. If you use the UR crank and AEM pulley they both make the alt turn slower.
I think the manuals can maybe get away wiht that since they idle at higher rpms than an auto
