96 2.4 has 9.5:1 compression = 210psi.

Compression ratio is pretty much meaningless. You can run12:1 with boost. It all depend on how much you are ready to spend to tune it right.

If it was a 426 Hemi I'd agree with you. But on a 2.4L you should get pistons with an 8.5:1 compression that will alow you to run 93 gas with a good amount of boost.

On our engines you don't need to lower compression. Lower compression should only be used when you run ALOT of boost. Witch is not even 1% of the members here. Lower compression is a way to reduce the tuning time.

If you want the max power out of your setup, you go with high compression.

What about the newer 2.4's? What should be the psi rating for them?

Around 215psi. It's only a 0.2:1 difference. Not much. Carbon deposit and other factors can changed it. It could be a bit lower for the 9.5:1 but not much.
