Engine in my 98 Z24
Sunday, February 04, 2007 2:04 PM
I bought a 98 Z24, it was run low on oil and the lower end is real noisy, Im sure bearings are toast. I found a very low mileage 2.4 out of a 2000 Olds Alero, salvage yard tells me it is the same, Im skeptical, can any of you guys tell me anything? I thought it was pretty much 96-98 Cavalier/Sunfire. I appreciate any of the info someone may have...

you will need the ecu/harness for 2000+ engine. I think...... im sure someone knows more. I would stick with a 97-99. not 96 and not 2000+

Thanks guys, thats the info i was looking for. A brand new crate engine from GM, with my GM employee discount is about $1300, so I think thats the route I am taking, I dont want to spend the money to put a crank and bearings in a 100,000 mile motor...
Thanks again,
Jeff
