Hello, I've got a 95 Cavalier LS 2.3L that runs great at low speeds but when I try to accelerate the power disappears almost like a governer works in a truck.
There is no bogging out like fuel starvation and no missing like bad ignition it just gets to a certain point and the power falls off.
Any clues as to what the problem might be? I've never experienced this sort of thing before it almost feels like a TPS problem because it is so consistent.
Your help is greatly appreciated.

Would be my first guess, TPS. Put a multimeter on it and check it out.
Fuel filter as my next choice. Then go gas up to be sure you have gas in the tank.

Thanks for the reply. It turns out that the map sensor was bad. Replaced it and the car runs fine.
i just had the same problem turns out a wire to the MAP sensor was severed fixed it and works great
What is the map sensor...................
98 j-body sedan
It is a sensor that is mounted on the intake manifold with 2 bolts and has a vacuum hose running down to the intake manifold. This device tells the computer what the barometric pressure is as well as telling the computer what load is on the engine.
M anifold A bsolute P ressure sensor or MAP sensor for short.

my first thought was "does he have a 2200, cause that'll do it"......lol

My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again
