started is located to the front-drivers side of the engine and connected to the transmission. I'ts going to be below the airbox/s-tube or air intake if you have one installed.

whats it look like i have one on order and i am pretty sure i can change with the help of my buddy who is a mechanic but hes booked up for a week or so and i want to see if its something i can change my self, i am fairly handy with under the hood

If you look on the block, by the oil filter, its right above there. Its a cylinder shaped thing that looks like it goes into the transmission. There are 2 bolts that hold it on, and a whole bunch of wires. Make sure you note where the wires go so you can swap them over to the new starter in the right places. Its easy to pull out and put in, just take your time.
