hey guys had the cavi in storage for about 3 months now pulled it out put a new battery in (upgraded to a yellow top) and when i try turning it over it cycles a couple of times and then clicks. after about 15 min i finally got it to start. but before i drop the cash on the starter i wanted to make sure that there was nothing else i could look at

Try banging on the starter next time it does that. If it works after banging on it, then yes, its the starter. Otherwise you could be missing teeth on the flywheel/flexplate. If thats the case, putting it in gear and rolling it a bit will cause the starter to not click.
