My girlfriends 99 pontiac sunfire (2.2 automatic) recently started having a problem. twice now, it has acted up for her. the first time was on new years eve. it was raining and it was at night. it stalled out while driving. it had been running for about an hour and a half (75 miles). she started it up and made it about 50 yards and it stalled out again. the next time she started it up and made it home fine. yesterday i drove it around for about 40 miles and it was fine. yesterday night she was driving it for about 20 minutes (20 miles). it stalled out. it was raining and it was dark out. it took six tries for it to start but then it ran fine and she made it home.

any suggestions? i was thinking maybe the crank sensor.

check fuel system ,O2 sensors plugs,etc:
