hey guys, the traction control light on my 2005 cavalier Z24 80,000 KMS. keeps coming on. pretty much at random. it started a few weeks ago it would come on once in a while, but now it comes on almost every time i drive.
my only guess is a bad wheel speed or ABS sensor. any help would be great.
thanks guys.
*edit* today it also came with a check engine light. but i don't think there related.

my sunfire did that. it would come on for a day or so then turn off and then my cel would come on it was the O2 sencer on my header was no good. got it fixed fine after that.
Look into the stored codes in your ABS computer. If the ABS system fails then TCS is turned off.

why wouldn't you think of that? traction control works off ABS, a car without abs wont come with traction control, it needs the wheel speed sensors to see whats going on. swaping out the ABS contorl module is most likely a waste of time, get the modu;le scaned, usually its osmethign sinple liek a wheel speed sensor.
^ the tranny is also acting up, im wondering if thats affecting it.
in my first post i was guessing it was a wheel speed sensor, the dealer looked at the car, they claim "theres nothing wrong with it" but thats what there saying about the tranny. ( tranny is under warranty, the traction control is not)
now adding to the problem, the tranny wont shift in to 4th gear if the cars been driven for about an hour. it will rev right up to 6500 RPM, finally shift if im lucky. when it finally does shift the traction control shuts off. it seems like the light will only come on when the tranny struggles to shift.
im going to take it to a Saturn dealer this week and see if they can come up with something, im really hoping they will tell me its something small.
thanks for all the input guys, keep it coming

well guys, all the problems where caused by a faulty fuel pump/sending unit.
the Saturn dealer was telling me that if the car can not get enough fuel i.e. my problems. it will disable the traction control because extra fuel may be needed when the traction control is activated.
just thought id post the cause of the problem
