dont really feel like buying a new one as I wont have the car much longer(I hope anyway.)
Junkyard has one for $10 but they say its from a 90 cavalier and that the book shows it wont work. Can anybody confirm this? and is there a way to make it work lol.

Well first of all phone the dealership and ask at the parts deparment or autoparts store, See if they could tell you if it 90 heatercore will fit youre 89 cavalier. If not then you got to get the right one. The heater is located right near youre heater controls, You got to remove parts of youre dash to get at youre heater core. The only pain youre gonna have is getting the heater core hoses off near the firewall in the engine compartment. Otherwise its a pretty straight forward job. Just allow youre self some time to the job.
Good Luck.

I went ahead and bought a new one afterall.
So the 89 is one that doesnt require alot of hassle getting the job done? I havent even went out and looked at the hoses on the wall. you say they will be hard because of the location, or because of not coming off very easy?
By the way thanks for the reply

Its not a hard job, Its just take a bit of time to get things removed, Lots of times people remove a bunch of things they dont need too. Like for example earily 80's fords you dont need to remove the dash at all, Just undo the glove box door, 8 screws, Undo the heater hoses in the engine area. all done. Make sure you get new heatercore hoses as well. The old ones will leak. Also I would recommend flushing the cooling system. Also after getting the new heatercore install run it for a bit to make sure you dont have any leaks, Its a pain to remove all the dash panel again.
Good Luck.
I plan to flush the system thoroughly, as for the hoses I'm not going to bother unles they become a problem.
