my problem on my 98 z24. i have a p0300 code, and at idle it jumps from 500 to 1500rpm it revs fine until it goes back to idle then it trys to die. i know the code is a multiple cylinder misfire. Also my ets light now comes on all the time. its been in the shop 3 times and noone can figure it out . any help would be appreciated

How long has it been since youre car has had a tune up?. Could also have a coil pack acting up. I would look into that area for misfire. I am pretty sure that will narrow it down to the problem.

I had the same code on my 97 sunfire gt along with one more. I changed gas caps, and changed the coil pack. The check engine light didn't go off that night, but the next day I was getting gas and when I came back out the light shut off and then the ets started working properly too. Don't know if it will help you or not, but that's how I fixed mine. And it has been fine for a week or so now.

Is youre car acting up while stop and go driving?. You could have a problem with youre (VSS) speed sensor. I could be dirty or starting to fail.

where is the vss located and how do u go about cleaning it. also could the prob be from timing cause they had to replace a broken timing chain housing? There is some sort of noise coming from that area of the engine... does it matter what brand of plugs i put in it cause i was told that it does make a difference
