A year ago, the drivers side door on my '97 Sunfire GT was doing the move an inch, wait an hour, move another inch, wait another hour, and so on thing until the window was all the way up. I replaced the motor and all was well.
Fast forward to a month ago.
The same window went down and would not come up. I automatically assumed the after market motor gave out and took door apart and removed the motor. I purchased a new motor and thankfully tested before leaving the parts store parking lot. There was no change. I got my old motor back. I put the door back together and manipulated the switch until the window came up. I looked down at the switch and it was smoking in my hand. Needless to say, that switch was shot. I removed the switch.
This week I got a used switch of 'unknown' condition or dependability. I put the new switch in and cycled the window 2 times. Later that evening, the window was put down and would not come back up. I covered the car. Today, I removed the door panel and applied 12 volts directly to the motor and up came the window.
I guess I'll have to shell out the bucks for a BRAND NEW switch. I don't think the problem is with a relay or a breaker. I think a bad relay would not allow either window to work and a bad breaker would not allow the driver's side window to work at all.
When I get the new switch, I'll follow up. Until then, if anyone has any ideas....let me know!

I like my Sunfire, but LOVE my GTO!
Test the voltage drop over the switch, should be less than .03V

i had the same problem with my switch. so i replaced it and then i took apart the old switch cleaned the contact points and then it works fine so now i have an extra switch. so try to clean the contacts and replace it
check the tracks as well, if you have a broken or busted track it'll cause the window to roll up very slow, and make lots of noise when its all the way up
