Hi, I'm getting my water pump changed on my 97 2.4L next week and was just looking for some advise as to anything else recommended to have changed at this time while the motor is taken apart this far so I don't have to pay labour again later... lol

As said above.. I got all my timing set from NAPA. I saved a whole lot of money.

anthing else or is that all that is accessible to change on this job?
Also isn't there something else that goes with the timing chain and guides?

so I called my local parts shop and from what I can understand, there's 3 guides (left, right and upper) to change and then there was three different types of tensioner's listed as 1st design, 2nd design and shoe. Can somebody confirm a) the need of the three guides and b) wich tensioner I need for a 97 Sunfire GT.

left, right and upper is correct for the shoes..
Now the tentioner, the one you need for your 97 is the one that has the plunger in it.. You release it to put tension on your chain before you time the engine again.. I believe its the newest design.. The shoe could come seperate from the tentioner.
