replacing the intake manifold gasket and just wondering if anyone has ported and polished the stock intake manifold and if so how to go about it ???? never done it on a j before is it worth the time or a waste????
What engine are we talking about?
PS. Fill in your profile
yea i need to get around to my profile its a 97 2.2 i want to port it but im not sure if it is worth it or not
Whether it's worth it or not is up to you. You could match the manifold to the gasket, and the TB opening, but don't polish the inside as the roughness promotes the air and fuel mixing on it's way to the combustion chamber. If that's the only mod you do, you likely won't notice much, but paired with an intake and maybe exhaust, you never know.
15.3 @ 89.97mph, 14's on the way?
The 2.2 is going to be just as gutless after a good port job. A dyno may find a extra 0.2 HP from it. It's just not a limiting factor at all.

That's actually TBI or Carburateur theory! You can have the intake and runners in the head as smooth as glass. It is only in the inch before the intake valve after the injector that counts. You need to focus on extrone honing and port matching the intake to the head's intake runners.

yea that makes sense i have intake and full exhaust and was just wondering if the porting would do much but im not going to take it all apart for not much of a gain not worth the time
