eveytime i have the heat on i hear a loud ticking noise. whenever i turn the heat off and turn the a/c on it goes away. Can anyone tell me what the problem is......thanks
Probably leaves in the fan or something like that. Take the fan out once and look it over. It's under the passenger side of the dash. Only a few screws to get it out.
You may want to unbolt and remove the passenger side seat to make to comfortable to get access to the blower motor under the dash and check for obstructions. It's in an ackward place. Trust me. Remove the seat and put some rags down over the bolts and you'll save on your back.
Guys did you even read his post.
The heat on sound there, A/C on sound not there.
The blower fan operates with the heat or A/C being on, so it cant be that.

it is probably an actuator for the blend door that is stripped. It happens of ford windstars all the time. try buying a shop manual so you can see where the actuators, or motors (whatever runs thoughs doors) are. they will be located on the outside of the heater box, and it may be possible to get to them to test or even change by simply removing the radio and HVAC controls. the shop manual will be able to tell you exactly for your car.
EXACTLY! The little gear on the selector door motor has a gouge through a few teeth. I filed it a little and put some vaseline on it and put it back together. I'll have to stop by the stealer on Tuesday to order a new gearset or actuator. I can't see the gear on the door itself. The actuator sort of slides in a hole and I kind of cheated to get to it. I've been "blessed" with small hands (but that doesn't mean much, wink wink). It looks like the entire dash has to come apart to get to the damn thing.
