car runs rough when temp gauge reads half way

My 88 sunbird turbo idles high and runs rough when the temp gauge needle hits the half way mark. Its not overheating its goes up to the half mark and goes down like normal so the thermostat is working fine. I think this could be a sensor or something electrical but have no idea what it could be.

i would check your o2 sensor and your tps sensor
a bad o2 could enrichen your fuel air ratio

I'll change the o2 sensor tomorrow but what is a tps sensor?

Thottle Position Sensor: A sensor in the throttle that senses the position of the throttle position, via some sort of sensor.

Heya Daniel, I would check to see if you got a check engine light on?. If so I would also get those codes scanned, Too find out for sure that youre replacing the correct sensor parts, that correct youre problems. No point replacing parts you dont need too.

Good Luck.

If it's changing when the temerature changes that it must be a temperature sensor.
I'd say the IAT (Incoming Air Temperature) sensor in the intake.

I looked on advance auto and the only air sensor is the air charge temp sensor and the air cleaner sensor. Nothing listed for Intake Air temp sensor. Where is the tps and the iac sensors located?
