Hi guys,
After tones of maintenance on my car, I'm only left with one thing to fix and that's the parking brake. One day I pulled it up and it wouldn't lock in place. The parking brake still stops the car but the actual handle won't stay up. I've removed the console to finally see that it's simply the ratchet action mechanics that appear broken. The parking brake button is very loose so I assume something broke inside.
Anybody knows what the name of the part in question is?
Anybody knows how I might fix this without having to purchase a new part?
It doesn't look like an easy fix so I'm hoping there's an out.
There doesn't appear to be any valuable information in the haynes manual about this part so I'm left with this forum as a source of information.
Thanks guys!

Well, my campbells friend, your best bet would be to go to a junkyard and get a new e-brake lever.
Lol
Your a funny guy.
For some odd reason I didn't even think of that. I'm in the middle of a 1980 Firebird restoration and use the wreckers all the times. Wonder why didn't come to mind.
Now to figure out how to take the stupid ting appart. Doesn't look like a frendly setup to remove.
