First off what I am doing is taking the wiring harness out of a 4dr cav that has the power package and then going to put it in my 4dr sunfire. Both are 5spd's
I just want to make sure I get everything, so can anyone tell me what is the thing and where it is in the car that receives the signal from the key fob?
I did a search and for a few things like "Key Fob" and only came up with someone asking the same question. Well other then people asking why it doesnt work.
The wiring harness is divided into several pieces. There's assemblies on the driver's side of the dash, the center dash, the right dash, the rest of the cabin (and trunk), and the engine harness. You want the cabin harness that also runs into the trunk. It includes all the wiring in the doors, console (center arm rest), trunk (where the KeyFob receiver is on the driver's wheel well), speakers, tail lights, and a few other miscellaneous things. It disconnects up in the dash on the driver's side behind the fuse block. I'll be easiest to take the console, seats, and carpet out of the car to get to it all. It's going to be a chore for sure. I can take pictures of my Vert if that would help at all.
It's been my experience that, with GM cars, identicaly equiped cars can come off the line right after each other and have the wires not match up color for color, part for part. Swapping the harness like that may not be worth the cost of getting one made. Good luck!
You'd be amazed at how many cars usually use the exact same connectors for things... Doesn't mean it's always compatible, but I'd bet this will work.
Thanks Guys.
I am getting all 4doors and wiring harness for around $80CDN, so I do not think I can beat that.
Yes Doors are only in OK shape and the Drivers Door may need a new Window Motor but I still think it's a good deal.
I did see something in the trunk on the drivers side wheel well but at the time it looked to me, to be for the speakers? (Same colour of wires anyway) like a power amp. But I did only look at it for about 3 seconds.
It had two different plugs hooked up to it and both plugs had a few wires in it.
Thanks Again.
