Could be the battery is shot, If you got a digital multi meter, It would help you trouble shoot, what current is going where, Or you can go to autozone, Have them test it for free.

If 1-4 are good it should charge, let us know if all this tests OK.

If you already know all this please ignore it

For the Alternator to charge, you need:-

1.Battery bench charged--to avoid heavy loads on the alternator

2. 10 Amp gauges fuse OK ---Charge light ON--L terminal of plug on Alternator is grounded within Alternator with Low voltage, High voltage or stationary Alternator.

{When the Ignition is switched ON this energises the Alternator Rotor field, as this field rotates it causes electricity to be produced in the Stator windings, this is Rectified by the Diode Bridge and fed to the Battery and the other loads. If this fuse is blown or removed there is no Alternator output}

3. Fusible Link (Grey) in RED cable from Alternator (BAT Terminal) to Battery Positive terminal, serviceable, this connects the output of the Alternator Diode rectifier Bridge to the Battery.

{If the Fusible link has blown there will be no continuity or a high resistance and the Alternator output will not be able to get to the Battery and Loads}

4. The Negative Battery cable must have a good contact at both ends, i.e. to the Battery and to the Block and Chassis grounds.

{The Charging current must be able to pass through to Ground as well as Positive to complete the circuit}

10 Amp gauges fuse

I assume you still have the Alternator plug connected. This has the wire to connect the Gauges fuse to the Charge light(You should still have that in) and on to the Alternator rotor.

Then 3 and 4 from my previous post

Do you have a multimeter/voltmeter?

If your charge light came ON the gauges fuse must be supplying the rotor.

Can you check the cable from BAT connector on the Alternator to the Battery Positive terminal.
If you have a meter there should be the same voltage at the Battery Positive terminal as the BAT terminal on the Alternator.
This would check the Fusible link in that wire

Have you touched the starter at all? I had a problem VERY similar to this. I changed the start, then had battery light, check engine light, and ABS light come on..Checked everything, checked battery with a multimeter, checked alternator output..was low, realized the only thing I touched were the wires on the starter and got 2 of them mixed up. I switched them back and viola, charge back in my battery.
