AC Questions

Welp, I read the FAQ, and saw:

Quote:

If the clutch is switching on and off correctly and is physically able to operate, check to make sure the compressor itself is not locked. Usually if the a/c drive belt was thrown off, this has already happened. If this has happened, the compressor will need to be replaced. If a compressor replacement must be done, it is wise to replace the accumulator, and if applicable, the oriface tube, as these act as system filters, and will not allow system contaminants to reach the new compressor.

Well, my AC just started on and off by itself.... About a week ago. It'll be fine, until I come to a stop and the temp gauge starts to rise. once my temp hits 3/4, the AC will shut off and will not engage again until it's back at 195. Is this normal? Should I look into getting my coolent flushed? Or should I get a new compressor?

PS, the temp gauge started moving last week.... sign of a bad thermostat? Not sure....

Could be several problems. Is the fan switching on when it gets hot? If not, that's a problem.
Could be thermostat going bad or possibly a head gasket too.

Hmm.... it's acting worse now. the AC will turn on whenever it wants to... sounds like a vaccum leak. I hear the hissing noise like normal when the AC shuts off by itself... maybe low freon? I'm gonna have one of the guys check it out later.
