Now with my Eco at 215000kms I was going to change mu timing chain since I can hear it ticking now. I was wondering if any of you could let me know how much I will be looking at to replace it preferably in cdn money but just a guess at the figure would work too. I was also wondering if there are any other things that are accessable when replacing the chain that I should alsp change at the same time. Thanks guys
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, for an
Ecotec timing chain replacement there should be
a "kit" available at most auto supply sources. The
"kit" would contain what you're asking.
As to labor costs, a DOHC engine is usually
around an 8 hour job. Any repair shop with a
flat rate manual could give you their labor costs.
I guessed around 8 hours, correct me if
this is wrong.
There's kits available, cost around $210 CAD. Comes with the chain, sprockets, guides, and tensioner.
Replacing it should be less than 8 hours, but it's going to be substantial. Perhaps you can find a buddy who will do it for a case of beer or something.
Our labor pricing here at the dealership calls for 5 hrs of labor so it sounds preety tedious.

u guys think I should replace it or rebuild the engine???
If you have the time and ability I would rebuild the whole top end while I was at it. If taking it in I would just do the chain.
