ok...so my starter grinds occasionally but more and more frequently as time goes on ever since i got the car, right after i start it, but only for about 1/4-1/2 a second.
its an 02 cav LS, 2.2 OHV, with 57k miles on it. been doing it since i got the car, bought it with 27k on it.
my questions are these- is there any other common problems related? or is it just the starter? should i check anything else besides the standard?
just figgerd id ask since ive got all you guys as a resource. just had a gut feeling about the ignition switch for some oddball reason...although im sure im wrong.

Its most likely all starter related. Have the starter checked out. It only takes at the most 10 minutes to take it out. My inlaws had a similar problem with their camry. Had to replace the starter and the problem was fixed. Find a alternator/starter repair place and have them look at it. They can pinpoint the problem more closely than autozone or advance auto can.
probably going to have to replace the starter but 30,000 and its still grinding... i think it would have @#$% the bed by now...

it doesent do ti every time...it was pretty rare for it to do it when i first got it...probably once every 3 months...now its once every few days....and i dont wanna get stranded. im not THAT strapped for cash that i cant afford a 150 dollar starter...and i work @ a dealership so i can change it myself with relaitive ease...just figgerd id ask....you guys confirmed what i was thinkin....thanks
