i need some serious help with my car. 97 cavalier won't start. I've changed the plugs, wires, changed battery, has gas and injectors are working. I've did the obd II tester on it and it passes, returns with no codes. I've had the ignition module tested and it's fine. I've changed the ignition coils, even tried spraying starter fluid and still nothing. if anyone has any more ideas I would really appreciate it.
how about telling us what it does besides it wont start? do you get anything at all? start then die? just crank? nothing?
To start your engine needs two things gas and spark at the correct time (timing) so itīs either electrical or no gas. I would try this take out a spark plug or all four and pour some gas, not much, directly to the cilynders, then put back the sparkplugs and try to start the engine, if it runs for a few seconds and dies it is a fuel shortage. Good luck .
Well.....
Luis is on the right track if you cranking but not turning on but if your not geting nothing as your turning the key then look for problems pretaining to your ignition switch.
If you get a click noise when you turn the key then your looking at a starter.
If you have a theft lock light on when you turn the key then something was done that wasnt supposed to be while the battery was still hooked up. The dealer has the code to rid that.
Hope it helps...
...They just HATE it when you ...POINT - LAUGH - then DRIVE OFF AND AWAY-!...
