So my check engine light has just popped on and i find out from ym local autozone that its either my EGR valve or the hose connecting to my EGR valve that is clogged up. I was wondering if this si a common problem amongst 95-99 2.2 cavaliers and if anybody has any idea on easy the install of a new valve would be?
Naw, not all that typical or common, but certainly is possibleat high miles. The tube may be a bit tricky to replace, it snakes around a little. The EGR valve itself is easy to get to and is unplug connector, bolt on, bolt off easy. Pro'bly the pintle is carbed up. Grab some throttle body cleaner and an old toothbrush! What year/ engine size you have?
i have a 1997 2.2 with about 81,000 thousand miles on it
Yeah, just carbon on the pintle, I'll bet. Take off the valve unit and clean it up.
