rough idle

Anyone else have this problem. Car runs fine but when stoped at a light it seems to get a rough idle. Tach sits at around 600 but seems to be just rought when sitting in traffic almost like a hesitation.

plugs look good.

2002 Sunfire auto with 65k kms

600 rpms is where it should be.

bsquared, you may want to pull those sparkplugs again...

The ones that came in my 2002 Cavalier were weak...

Got rid of them at about 8,600 miles...

What a difference !

put some ac delcos in if there isnt already.. 8600 miles is dumb to replace plugs..
Clean your t/b
change air filter
maybe fuel filter depending on mileage
does the car still hesitate if u put it in neutral?

If there is a weak sparkplug, any engine will run rough....

It doesn't matter if it has just a few miles on it...

Jonathan, sparkplugs from any manufacturer are subject to

defects...

A new set doesn't always cure what's wrong..

when stoped the idle speed is ok but almost as if just one plug was off and not firing right. Anyway checked the factory plugs and they look good (as said i ~65ooo km = 40ooo mi). Air filter is good and clean. Next thing would be fuel filter but no reason to be that as car starts ok adn runs fine (acceleration and all). And to answer Jonathan's question... yes if i put the car in N when stoped still rough. Anyone else have this problem?

if you have the 2200 (not the ECOTEC) , then its completely normal, at the low rpms the engine vibrate allot more then when you are moving on down the road. stick it in N and put the RPMs up to about 750 -1000 you will see it smooth out

AC Delco platinum plugs are what comes standard in the car.

That whole sputter stuff. Do you notice that your car barely runs on 4 cylinders after you come back from a long drive? Like a 45 minute drive, put it in park and then she almost stalls. Start er back up. She barely wants to start and when she does a puff of black smoke comes out? Try replacing both your oxygen sensors. Try to get BOSH sensors. There some of the best quality.

I've had idle issues with Bosch platinum plugs, 2 sets, car would never idel well.
Put in Champion platinums, car is like new again. Both sets of the Bosch's were
re-gapped, cleaned, several times, to no avail.
