Car died, need help.

I have a 97 w/ 2200 & 5spd in it. I was driving home from work monday night everything was fine, stopped at the store and car started fine again, but once I got home as I was pulling into my garage the car died and wouldn't restart. At first I had thought maybe I blew a fuse so I checked them all and everything was ok. So next I thought the fuel pump or realy went out so I swapped the relay w/ the A/C and tried it again and it fired so I left it at that thinking I needed another relay. Well on tuesday morning the car wouldn't start again, and since then I've pulled the 2 wire connector off the coils and checked for voltage with the ignition in run position and I'm getting nothing. I also get no spark from a grounded plug.

Any ideas? Should I be getting voltage on the connector?

Are you getting any power: Like interior light , headlights?. I would get a digital multi meter to see if youre battery is fully charged. Could have a bad coil pack. Maybe alt could have failed as well.

i have somewhat the same problem right now.
its very intermetent...start the car, drive around and most of the accacories will shut off and come back on, the car will keep running. this has been happening for about 3 weeks, checked anything normal what it could be and nothing.
on tuesday i went to lunch...drove the sunfire to a restrant, came out an hour after and tried to start, no accesories working and the car would turn over and catch and shut right off!!! fuel pump is pumping and bench tested and its good, went back to the car after about 5 hours and still no start....towed it to my work and it started...but after about 5 min the accesories will die again and come back on...left the car there to be safe. Came to work this morning and the same thing again...car won't start!!!

This is whats checked
ecu in right wheel well
wiring from batt to alt and fuse panels
fuel pump and lines
fuel filter

someone help me before i blow up my car

It sounds to me like youve started your diag off pretty well. If youve got no power on the pink wire of the 2 pin connector on the ignition module you know where to start. RECHECK to make sure the "IGN" fuse is good. Use a test light (always test your test light to be sure it works!)to make sure both sides of the fuse(poke at the little exposed parts on top of the fuse) have power with the key in run. if they do youve got an open on the pink wire between your fuse block and the Ign module. Inspect this wire for damage. there is one other connector in this circuit, its called C100 and believe its got 38 cavities, is black & grey and rectangle shaped.

A quick trick to see that this is the cause of your problems is simply to splice a battery positive voltage source into the pink wire very close to the coils(so as to eliminate most of the possibly suspect circuit) If it starts...continue hunting(but be sure to remove and properly repair your splice.

Also very important is to check that all the female terminals are a uniform shape and none seem to be spread wider.

Good luck...feel free to ask anything further
