Help, stuttering on acceleration! stalling?

Hi. new to the boards here, but have looked at them every once in awhile and found it to be very informative.

Here is my problem...... I have a 97 cav z24 and just recently it started to stumble on take off. I give it gas as normal, say from a stop light and it gets to about 1000 rpm then stumbles then goes up again then continues trhough drive range with no problems. Here is what i have done. I put new spark plugs in with correct gap and replaced fuel filter. I have some ideas from my rapair manual saying it could be a vacuum leak or something or fuel system problem. Also once in awhile it stalls but only when i coast down hills like a driveway or neighborhood hill where i'd be g oing slow any ideas from you guys...or girls would be very helpful. thank you

I was told with incorrect gapping of the spark plugs can cause misfire or stumbling or something like that. Did you try the map sensor, someone said that deals with how much fuel gets sent to the engine.

thanks lon, i checked under the hood and hose going from map sensor to the intake man was carcked along the nipple and around the bottom of it. it's a wonder it stayed on at all. took a short test drive and it appears to act better, and the hard shifts seem to be less or non existent. i'll post again to let everyone know after a more thorough drive around. later.............

posting again seems there's no hesitation anymore......but still feel a little wiggle on my gas pedal when i;m pushing more than normal. between 2nd and third and third and fourth it doesn't take long to shift or anything. POSSIBLY torque strut )lower motor mount) 2.4 litre cav. have checked upper and it's good.
