hey trying to get this thing fixed so i can get it inspected. but my check engine light won't go out. before that code i was getting an o2 code that said there was a bad ckt connection. now this is a whole new exhaust system that i had professionally installed... maybe has 20k on it. all right so it's not all that new...but my one problem was that the o2 right after the header needed to be spliced, which i'mguessing is the bad connection. and the one in the rear i have not touched yet. i've already had the car inspected and it failed, so i'm trying to not have the same result. any ideas on a quick fix that's cheap. my whole exhaust is welded on so i'm trying to avoid having to replace exhaust components. one question i have is, could i just get an 02 sensor that's long enough, regaurdless on vehicle? what are differences between 2 different o2 sensors. is there a difference between the front and the rear o2? help!!!!
also should i maybe look into a tuner? could it just be the different exhaust sizes that are throwing readings off? i got a new header, magnaflow free flow cat and a flowmaster 40. 2 1/4 exhaust pipe. i just want this thing to run right. is there any good ignition systems i should look into while i'm out fixin stuff? i haven't done a tune up in a while... any reccomendations?
just so people know... a sawz all does not cut through an o2 sensor.
so i could get a socket on it.... there wasn't enough room to slide the socket on so i figured i'd make room! burned up 2 blades and got nothing, tried a cut off wheel... and even that wouldn't do it. i figured i'll run down to my buddy's house so he can torch it hott for me and just try it with a wrench.
a p0420 is a cat. code, which means low efficency, i had the same problem and had to change out my cat., it will always do that and every year you will have to change out your cat. if you want to keep a "high flow" , you best bet is to put a factory spec. cat. on and leave you o2 sensors alone, i have no idea why you would have to splice a o2 sensor in any way but it could cause a bad connection fault code, the main difference in the o2 sensors are the wire length, they front one might not be heated like the rear is but its saturday and im not at work so im not thinling to hard on that. hope that helps you out a little
well the bung on the pacesetter header is farther away then the stock manifold... i've heard of other people having the same problem. either way my car has 116xxx on it, so i might as well start goin over everything and gettin it back up to practically new. and my other problem was that the entire exhaust was welded together so i didn't really wanna go in there cuttin stuff.
