I have a 98 chevy cavalier 2.2L and my engine constantly makes a type of "clicking" noise and its really annoying lol...and i was just wondering if any of you out know what i`m talking about ??? and how could i fix it..
Well does the ticking noise get louder when you push on the gas peddle?. I am thinking it could be a rocker arm could be loose, May need tightening, Or It fuel regulator unit, Its makes a whine or buzz sound could even have a lite click as well, Also a common thing it could be, Timing chain worn, timing chain tension could be worn as well.
i think it would be the rocker arm i have a 2.4 not a 2.2 but i have heard alot of people with the 2.2 having to tighten the rocker arms because they begin to tick after a while and it just gets worse and worse so i wold ty tighting the rocker arms
Well since im a 2.2 guy here we go..if it is a constant ticking that speeds up as you rev the engine your looking at a lifter...they do it and its very common..now if you punch the gas and then it ticks loud for a few seconds and then calms down its the timing chain assembly...they tick..that is just how it is..phil
well i doesn`t get worse when i give it gas or anything it just stay the same noise throughout....but it hink it also could be a rocker arm...i`ll have a look at it.....thanks for your feedback guys
if it is some sort of a winding/ticking noise, it could be a pulley on your belt assembly.
