seafoam smoke Q
Saturday, September 30, 2006 11:31 AM
i just need to know something about seafoam, i did on my 97 Z24, hardly any smoke at all, i went half through the tb and half through the oil can, barely had a single clump of smoke come out the tail pipe

wut i need to know, does more smoke mean the engine is dirtier? and less smoke means it was clean to begin with?

thanks for any help

a cat convertor will lessen the smoke effect. Did u shut ur motor off right away when u were done adding the seafoam to ur motor? I also wouldnt run that seafoam thru the oil unless your going to change it shortly after. When i did it I filled the whole neighbor hood up with smoke. drove it around and made a 18wheeler dissappear from the smoke i poured out

welll my cat is only about 6 months of use old, that could maybe be a factor, and i ran it round 2000 rpm while pouring it in, shut it off for 5 min like i read and then started it back up and ran at high idle, and no smoke at all really, interested i believe, thanks so far guys!

I ran SeaFoam in my engine that had only 8,000 miles on it, there was almost no smoke at all. I also used some in my brothers Saturn with 100,000 miles and again there was almost no smoke at all. We followed the directions on the bottle and website. So I don't think the "more smoke = dirty" rules applies here, but I could be wrong.

Maybe some cars just dont smoke lol. I found this movie with a Honda being SeaFoamed... lots of smoke.

It depends no how long you leave it sit in your engine. On the Toyota site I'm on, those guys swear by leaving it sit overnight to loosen the gunk and then you will get a smoke show

I went to victory lane ( oil change place here in michigan ), and i had them do the 3 step full throttle, which they said is better than sea-foam, they put one in the gas tank, one in the throttle body, and one down the main vacuum line. They had 3 separate bottles for each thing. It smoked so bad, and my car had 115,000 miles on it at that time. Runs way better than before, so I think the dirtier it is, the more smoke their will be.

You should be able to get it at any automotive store. I normally get mine at Farm & Fleet, but I don't know if they have them everywhere. It might be just a hick town thing

Start the car..

take the vacuumm hose off and start pouring the bottlle in .. fairly quick but without stalling yet.. dont do it SUPER SLOW .

when you put in 3/4 of the can.. DUMP The rest REALLY fast in it.. so it stalls.. if you cant stall it then you didnt have enough in the can or you did it too slow.. if it dont stall .. shut the engine off..

wait 15 min.. start the car and enjoy the smoke..

ive done it like 20 times and HUGE clouds of smoke each time..
