its an 03 eco and if i drive in stop and go traffic it tends to over heat up to about 3/4 of the way to max, its uasually at half most of the time. when it does over heat the fans come on and stay on till the car cools down even if the car is off, no coolant bubblin or anythin just the fan. i usually turn on the a/c once it over heats and it will cool it down but i wanna fix this and stop using the cover up method.

its normal for the temp level to get like that on our cars, the air you are hearing is the coolant system depressurizing, i'd check the cap for overall tightness though. As long as it doesnt go into the red, i wouldnt worry.

Generally speaking, turning on the A/C should only add to the heating problem. It shouldn't cool it down. If it does appear to be cooling it down, this may be because the A/C turns on the engine fan. Maybe your fan is not coming on at the correct temperature. You may want to try changing the thermostat. A thermostat may open at the right temp but if it gets stuck or does not open enough, it can obstruct flow and cause overheating, especially at low RPMs when water pump pressure is at its lowest point.
koo thanx ill get it changed this weekend and see whats up

the fan on our cars kicks on at a high temperature (someone on here will probably give better particulars), i personally wouldnt worry about it, its normal.
