New Brake Drums Question
Monday, September 25, 2006 1:11 PM
Does anyone know what the size is of the rear drums on a 2001 Chevy Cavalier Z24. I am ordering off the NAPA site and they have them for w/ 200mm X 45mm Brakes or w/ 225mm X 45mm Brakes. Im not sure wich ones to get? Any help would be appriciated.

get the 200mm ones, if you have the spare cash get both as a just is case thing, so you would not have to run back to the auto store when it come time to change them.

The 201.9 is the max diameter they can be re-machined before they are total junk. They were 200 from the factory.

What size shoe should I go with, w/ 7.87" X 1.77" or w/ 8.86" X 1.77". Does it really matter?

wow its incredible no one has answer this. anyway, jbodies in 2003 i believe came with a bigger rear drum, which is where the 225/8.86 comes into play. all jbodies below that came with the smaller 200/7.87 ones. get the right ones, because if you wont they just wont fit. if you dont know which you have, look at your drum and you'll see.

Since I just did my rear brakes, I also got 01 cavalier, Youre rear drums and brake shoes are gonna be 200.mm ones, 7/8's are the correct ones. I brought my old ones in matched them, I had a hell of time finding the drums, Brake shoes were easy to find.

Good Luck.
