why is my car idiling so fast?
i recently replaced the injectors in my car and now the car goes straight to 5000 rpms on startup. i have a custom chip to handle the larger injectors, i have no vac. leaks, everything is hooked up correctly, replaced the tps and iac even know everything was fine before and still nothing helps. i'm all out of ideas. PLEASE HELP!!!

this is on a 93 3.1 cavalier

custom chip?

check out the o-rings around the injectors. you could have a vacuum leak.
another common problems is the throttle cable getting stuck, opening up the TB and causing a fast idle.

the o-rings are new and i assume they're in correctly as for the clips and the fuel rail wouldn't seat properly if the injectors were in wrong. and for the tb it's closed and i also checked the cables. any other ideas. i've checked into just about every thing imaginable and still nothing.

fill out your profile a little more with info about your car, and that'll help others to help you.

the only other thing I can think of, is to check all the vacuum hoses around the TB, make sure the brake booster vacuum hose is plugged in, make sure your TB and intake mani are bolted down correctly. I had a fast idle (not as bad as yours), and I ended up replacing the intake manifold gasket and the injector o-rings. you might have to take the fuel rail back off to make sure one of the o-rings didn't get sucked in.

as a last resort, pull the positive cable off the battery for a good 10-15 minutes to force the PCM to do a re-learn.

lol. checked all the vac lines, cables to the tb. no vac. leaks, sprayed all around plenum, etc. looking for leaks. nothing. also unhooked the batt. and tried that too. so it looks like i'm taking everything off again and checking those injectors again.

I wonder if it's the chip that's causing problems?

tried diff. chips and all had the same result.

now the update:
earlier i took everything back apart just for @!#$s and giggles. either that or it would've just sit. well again everything was fine, o-rings, injectors seated properly. however the only thing i noticed was the pvc hose end where it actually connects to the pcv was connected, but slightly crooked. put everyting back together and walla.

NEW PROB:
now the car ran rough for a litttle while and eventually leveled off which is expected, but it' still is around 1500.
