If this is for the Sunfire in your profile check out: Coolant Change Read the section about venting the system around figure 11.

In either case, I think your need to bleed the system. This is done by opening the bleeder valve and filling the overflow tank until coolant flows out. I think this can also be done while the engine is running, but don't quote me on that. I don't know where this valve is located if this is for the 05 in your profile. Hopefully someone will chime in to help you out if that is the case.

Good Luck

Did you test the thermostat before installing it? These things are not the most reliable product.

Either you have a bad thermostat or it is in backwards. If you want to bleed the system---

open the cap
run the car
the coolant will start to bubble, possibly overflow. this is normal
when it stops, stop car and replace cap
enjoy

Well the 2005 has a different thermostat then the other ecotecs its hudge. Anways it will only fit in one way its in the right way. Is that really how you bleed it take tha cap off and run the car?

well are you even positive its the thermostat thats bad? could be a water pump or even a head gasket (i doubt its a head gasket cuz the car is still new but it still could be)

Its one way. If you have a puke line you don't need to worry about it, the car will bleed itself out natually.
