Light on after coolant flush
Thursday, September 21, 2006 1:50 PM
Just as the title says, my low coolant light is on after I flushed the system. I added dex-cool and topped it off, but the light is still on. There seems to be no leaks, and the overflow is just above the mark. Any ideas? Is there some sort of reset or something, or should it just go off normally?

Please help!

the sensor gets stuck at the bottem of the resovior. tap it with a wrench neer the frount with a bit of force and The light should go off.

I've replaced the coolant on 2 Sunfires now, a 96 and a 97. In both cases they suffered from sticky low coolant switches. I found sludgy coolant at the bottom of the reservoir around the switch. Thus each time the coolant went a little low, the light comes on and it gets stuck in the sludge. When I flushed the system, I removed the coolant bottle, and power flushed it with water. Good as new, and does not stick now. No more tapping after refilling. I think it is those GM coolant tablets they want you to add that eventually creates the sludge.

darkbladej, thanks! Worked like a charm. Darn GM switches that get stuck. One whack w. a wrench and it was fine.
