96 Z24 speedometer not working
Wednesday, September 20, 2006 11:07 AM
My speedometer quit working all of a sudden. Read through multiple forums and most said it was the VSS (vehicle speed sensor). I checked auto parts stores and there are 2 VSS's an Input and an Output sensor. I need to know which should be replaced and where both are located.

As far as Ive seen on my 99 Z. You only got one
Near the right cv joint, top of the trans axle.
Look at your Haynes/Chilton Manual for details. -Knowledge is key-

...They just HATE it when you ...POINT - LAUGH - then DRIVE OFF AND AWAY-!...

Don't assume your VSS is shot. Take the sensor out and check to make sure it isn't just covered in metal shavings. Mine did this, and come to find out it was my spider gears in the diff. Hate to see you buy an expensive sensor just to find out that it wasn't the problem. It should be very simple to check, mine is a manual but it was just 1 small bolt.
