Headlight

Well I think this is like my 9,000th problem with my car (10 years old). My pass side low beam was out, so i changed it and noticed it was blown, like physically blown to pieces, not burned out. Anyway, i replaced it, it lasted about 3 days and it's out again. Once again, it's physically blown apart with little pieces of glass in my HL assembly. Is this a problem anyone has ran in to? I did my search'n and only found people with mainly with brightness problems or headlight swithc problems (which i'm sure will be a problem arround next year). But for now, i was wondering if anyone had any insight on this? I either figure it's getting too much juice, in which case I don't know what i'm looking for as far as ohms and resistance, i only know that wires on the car should be ranging arround 12 volts. Or i'm wondering with my pro-street coilovers on if the car is taking too much of a jolt over some pot holes and breaking the light.

Any help would greatly be apreciated as headlights aren't cheap.

Thanx ya'll.

Sounds like too much juice to the bulb unless your putting the wrong kind of bulb into the headlight. Or another thing is that if your building moisture inside the lens, thats causing the bulbs to burst. Direct water to extreme heat 101

Hopefully your not inserting the bulbs bare handed with your fingers on the bulb itself. Im pretty sure you know that the oils (natural and man made) can blow them out and shorten its life.

...They just HATE it when you ...POINT - LAUGH - then DRIVE OFF AND AWAY-!...

Ya, i know better than to put my fingers on the bulb (skin oil + halogen = bad news). I think my headlights have gotten moisture in them on and off over the years. So I can't imagine it'd make it go nuts now. Of course it has bean starting to get cold in the mornings (40's) with fall making its way in as well as getting in the 80's still (Michigan weather), so that might be causing dew or even frost to build up.

If I put a meter on the wires, what am i looking for as far as watts, ohms volts and all that good electronic stuff. I havn't had electronics since high school, so I"ll have to forward this info to my electrical engineering buddy for a helping hand.

Any other info or advice would be apreciated.

Thanks again.
