in my 97 2.2 cavalier ive noticed it doing something a little funny, and with a 4hr drive for a weekend getaway me and my g/f are taking in two weeks id like to get it fixed.
anyway, it doesnt do it all the time but when it does it's when I start the car and go to first move, it kinda stutters, like if you were to let off the clutch to a tad to fast and then push it back down real quick to save it from stalling. usually revs up a little after it starts saving itself. that's the best way i can describe it. It seems to run fine besides that, and it's never stalled or did it more than the first time i go to move.
im probably going to replace the fuel filter tommrow, ive had the car since 54K and it has 92K and ive never done it (i know i know, i should of a while ago i just never got around to it) so im hoping that's all it is. i don't think it's a fuel pump because from what ive herd when they go it's all at once and the car just wont start. So my 2nd idea after the fuel filter is a possible injector? But i don't know if it's even fuel related but im thinking it is.
so any ideas of things i should check?
Probably needs the IAC valve cleaned, may be the TPS sensor too. Those are both in the TB.
IAC is the Idle Air Control, which keeps your car running when the throttle plate (controlled by the gas pedal) is completely closed.
TPS is the Throttle Position Sensor, which tells the car when your pushing the gas. If you let air in via the gas pedal, but the eninge doesn't know it you'll lean out the mix and stall the engine (many times the computer will catch it just before it actually stalls).
The same car as in your sig? I thought you wrecked it?
no the one in my sig is my 05, and yes it's wrecked as of now.
i have a 97 daily driver cavalier, it's in my reg.
thanks cts ill def look into that because taking apart the tb really isnt to difficult so i might give it a shot.
yeah, i have been having the same problem for a long time the car just jumps when pulling out, but if u go to a complete stop its fine after that. my car also has arond 91000 miles on. It seems like a lot of people have this problem

Its common that people dont clean nor replace these sensors. Then again, its not common to.
...They just HATE it when you ...POINT - LAUGH - then DRIVE OFF AND AWAY-!...
