A/C dripping refr.-O-Ring?

Hi all,

My A/C compressor is leaking hard, it is coming out somewhere in the compressor and dripping off the bottom. I recharged it w/ ultraviolet refridgerant and you can see it very clearly. Is this typical of a leaking o-ring, or is it possible my compressor is shot? Sucks, I can't take it off to tear it down, because it is my daily driver.

Any help or previous experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the shaft o-ring to me. Just rebuilt mine this past Spring on my '99. Was a PITA to pull the compressor off, then took it to a buddy at the dealership for him to install the $20 gasket/o-ring kit which took him about 30-45 minutes. I don't know if it is even possible to replace that o-ring on your own without the special tools. I think he used 4 or 5 special tools that are specifically designed for that.

I was told that the fix could last for a couple of years, or a couple of days. Just never know.
