i have a 2001 cavy. the other day i was on my way home from work when i smelled antifreeze. i looked down to see the passanger side floor was soaked with antifreeze. what could be causing this? what is the easiest way to fix this problem?

I did my 91 cavalier, I know it's not the same but the heater core should be right behind the center console in an enclosed
box. It was easy but ackward. If you look in your engine and down on the fire wall you'll see two hoses. The only two hoses
sticking out, besides the a/c drain. That's where you should start......
i started to rip out the dash and now i am lost i never got the heater core in and i can't figure out how to put it back together to take it back to the dealer to get it done right is there anyone in the allentown pa area that could possibly help it would be greatly helpful
1. Take console out (thing between seats)
2. take upper dash out, then lower dash.
3. Shields around HC in front of where console used to be.
4. Plastic ducting, most just pulls off.
5. You'll see the HC, has 4 screws.
6. Disconnect hoses in engine bay, total PITA.
7. Pull HC. Put new in.
8. Reconnect hoses, again PITA.
9. Put ducting, shields, lower dash, upper dash, and console back in.
10. Enjoy.
three days and the car still isn't done i have one screw in the center of the plastic cover against the firewall to remove before i get to the heater core i can't seem to get the socket on the screw any suggestions
Well it seems that your not really good with tinkering Thats ok all of use on here had to start somewhere too Number 1 get a hanyes manual or chiltons at canadian tire, walmart (canada) or Pep boys walmart (USA) The manual has step by step how too's with pics its a $20 book. But one repair and it pays for it's self !
The screw your asking about is in the inside of the car under the dash? you can get the socket on because there's no room? have you tryied a elbow socket? is it a bolt or a screw if so what type?

it is a 5.5mm screw it is in the middle of the plastic cover against the firewall i tried the pivot socket wrench still dont have enough room to get the socket on the screw
I didn't replace my heater core because of that screw...I just disconnected the hoses and put a peice in there that bypassed the core for now...

yes i got that screw out the heater core went in smoothly the car should be together today
